The Fraud Queue

Under Review and Address Verification are the pair of order statuses governed by hard coded rules and a set of agent defined rules to help prevent fraudulent orders from being shipped.  All on hold product records for orders with these order status are ignored by the picking queue. These orders will remain segmented until a supervisor approves or cancels them.

An order will appear in the Under Review status if:

  1. The Billing and Shipping address are not identical
  2. AVS non match on address, zip, or CVV2
  3. Paid with a Purchase Order
  4. Country is not the US
  5. Meets an agent defined rule

Address Verification is similar but for PayPal orders

  1. The Billing and Shipping address are not identical
  2. Country is not the US
  3. Meets an agent defined rule

Like filtering rules for an email inbox, you can customize and add any change the status of an order automatically.  To manage these rules go to Settings >>  Order Settings >> Fraud Check;

One example would be to set up a rule for zip codes that are near airport or typically are for forwarding addresses.  Fraud Check Name and Description do not have to be unique. Select the status for the order when the filter is met, typically Under Review is used, Cancelled may be applied as well if the order will never ship based on the rules.

Once the Check  is inserted we need add the rules to govern it: Click on manage to start inserting rules.

  • Click on Insert Fraud Check Rule to start adding them.
  • With this example we are concerned with the shipping zip code. We want to select Zip/Postal  Code under SHIPPING INFORMATION and then add one of the restricted zip codes, 33172. in Column Value.  Exact matches are the preferred method, but partial matches may be used if you don’t mind false positives. If we used partial matches on zip some 9 digit zip codes would also be flagged by this rule, 63123-3172.  Once the rule has been inserted you should see this confirmation message
  • Once Rules are inserted the check will be used automatically.
